Quotes

George Michael: I’m sorry. We really should get another tape.

Michael: Mm.

George Michael: I mean, they’re not expensive.

George Michael: Well, I’ve been thinking. You know, I mean, every society has their own rules about this stuff. For instance, in some states, it’s legal to marry your own cousin. California’s blocked it twice, but that’s only because they tacked it onto an estate law thing that wasn’t gonna pass. We had the signatures...

Michael: You’re 16, and you know all that. She’s 30 and a half. She probably can’t list the seven Houses of Parliament.

George Michael: There’s three.

Pastor Veal wrote:Um... this is kinda strange, but can someone explain the "tiny Teddy" joke? Rita says she wants to bring her tiny teddy, and Michael can’t wait to get it... what does that mean? I’m guessing there’s a joke there, but I don’t know what it is...

A teddy is a piece of slinky women’s lingerie, which is what Michael thought she meant. But she meant her tiny teddy bear. Guffaws for all.

Ah... that makes more sense.

Is it just me, or was it NOT funny the way everyone reacted to Rita’a ideas when they found out her mental conidtion.

Read through this entire thread and haven’t seen an explanation for Rita’s line:

I know what it is, Trevor, I’ve seen your secret magazine. I want to have grown-up fun. Spoon and figgy pudding. Rabbitown dum druggary’s hollow. And I want to have pop-pop.

I don’t get the middle part. Translation, anyone?

Thanks. Figured they were just euphemisms. They sound even dirtier though. Maybe it’s just me.

I still don’t know why Michael didn’t marry Rita. sure, she was
retarded
, but they loved each other. she just left for no reason. we were never really told why she had to go back to Big Britain.

She had to go back to Britain because Michael called the bobbies on her at the end of "Mr. F."

ok. i guess i have to watch Mr. F again...

thanx for the info.

She could have stayed in Orange County if she had married Michael because she would have gotten a green card.

I thought Michael didn’t marry Rita because as Trevor said, she was incapable of making such a commitment as she had the mental age of a small child.

More prosaically they didn’t get married because they probably couldn’t afford Charlize Theron for thirteen episodes and because main characters don’t get to be happy and settled until the very end of the show and only then if they are lucky.

i’m still amazed that fox didn’t promote the show with charlize theron. shes’ not even on the dvd box! i dont’ get it!

but i gotcha. thanks for the rita info.
