Perfect. This is a perfect scene.

I don’t believe this has been mentioned here yet, but I wanted to point out something in the first scene where Michael and Gob are in the lounge and Gob knocks on the wall. As you know, this is followed by footage of George Sr. in the attic as it happens... Here’s what’s interesting, though - there’s typical AD background music playing in that scene, and when it shows George Sr. in the attic, you hear the same song at the same part again, only with a stranger quality to it, implying that the music was coming from the living room itself during that scene, rather than being inserted by the editors later...

I think that’s the only fourth-wall-breaking joke about the show’s music other than Michael switching off Gob’s magic song in The One Where They Build a House.

What is the name of the guy who played the surrigate for George SR. He was also in Curb Your Enthusiasm and I always thought that was one of the most innovative character I’ve ever seen.

how about the ad song (song that plays on the "on the next" of my mother the car and various other episodes) being played on the speakers at the diversity dance in shock and aww?

also various other season 3 examples all involving the gob/franklin tape.

#84 Beamer wrote on August 05, 2007:

Oh, I was just referring to moments when characters actually acknowledge the background music. If we’re talking about moments like that, the very first one was in the Pilot. The scene where "Free at Last" is playing? Every time the camera changes, the volume slightly changes too, implying the song is actually being played on the boat rather than being added in the editing process.
