Arresting Developments on Arrested Development Movie
What This Means For Your Weekend
There’s still no official word of any kind, but things are looking good for the Bluths to return on the big screen!
Kristen from E! Online confirms with Jason Bateman that
talks are in place:
| Quote: |
Kristen at E! Online was told by Jason Bateman that "the creative minds behind ’Arrested Development’ (Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard) have put the wheels in motion toward a major motion picture of the Fox TV comedy so many of us adore. I’m told by insiders that Jason and other Bluth family members have received calls from producers (Hurwitz and Howard) asking if they would be willing to shoot a movie."
"I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started," Bateman said. "Any talk is targeting a poststrike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it’s a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed." |
And this news was confirmed by Jeffrey Tambor, who said that Ron Howard had contacted him and said they were looking to make the movie happen. The show’s legacy and fan following has only increased after its cancellation, the show’s stars have established themselves on multiple projects after the show, and Hollywood is currently in love with movies about TV shows, so the prospects for this to take place just look better and better!

For anyone visiting here who misses the show, don’t give up hope yet! Remember when Ron Howard said "Maybe a movie?" He wasn’t just saying that. Mitch really did think that he might try an Arrested Development movie or special at some point in the future. While it seemed for a long time that this was probably not going to happen, there has been
some buzz as of late that at least lets us know that the idea isn’t dead.
What can you do to help? Truthfully, not much. At this point, it’s not even sure that Mitch has an idea for the movie, much less whether he’s actually considering moving forward. However, you can sign a petition to keep the voices of the fans being heard and let everyone involved know that there is still a demand for more AD!

Zach Braff Talks Scrubs and Fletch
....As far as guest appearances go, Braff is really hoping to get a former "Arrested Development" character on.
"The one person I want right now is David Cross. I wanted David Cross to come on as Tobias Fünke. I’m trying to broker that deal, with Mitch’s (Mitchell Hurwitz) approval. I want David to come on as Tobias… I love that character, and the fact that character is over for good, I want him to at least have one more little life."

Development on Arrested Movie
Posted by Clint Morris on July 12, 2006
Plans are apparently underway to bring “Arrested Development” to the big screen.
(Ah, nothing feels better than giving a short-lived series - well, “Arrested” lasted a reasonable 3 seasons - a reprieve on the big screen, does it?)
Speaking to TV Guide, star Alia Shawkat said "Mitch [Hurwitz, the creator] actually recently told us that there is a good possibility for a movie, and that he’s talking to Ron Howard about it."
Ronny, of course, is one of the show’s producers. He also narrated the series. If anyone can make it happen, Fonzie’s pal can. (And let’s face it; it’ll save Jason Bateman from the inevitable “Teen Wolf Again”).
Update: There has been no official word of any sort about a movie, but many of the cast have mentioned the possibility of one. There may be one at some point in the future, but it is not currently in the works.
